They come from Agarthi was a TV series on ARD . It was produced in 1974, and in May 1975 14 episodes were broadcast on the ARD's early evening program. It was one of the first German " mystery " television series. This genre was largely unknown in the German-speaking world, especially as a television series, and only established itself much later.
action
The focus of the plot is the newly married couple Pete and Sandra Bittner. Sandra suddenly begins to speak incomprehensible sentences with a monotonous voice in a trance . It turns out that she is in telepathic contact with a culture that, as she says, originated in Agarthi. It is said to be a mysterious, underground land in the Himalayas . After this contact was made, a Professor Bond from the (fictional) US secret service ATIC suddenly appears to find out more about the phenomenon. The Soviet secret service also shows interest and sends agent Leontev. In later episodes, an enigmatic prince Taitanuk appears who claims to be in contact with Agarthi and to act on his behalf. In the course of the series, the actors trace the phenomenon and try to clarify who is behind the contact and whether Agarthi actually exists. Numerous risky and sometimes confused adventures have to be overcome.
Charisma
The episodes, each around 25 minutes long, were broadcast in rapid succession in May 1975. The first episode aired on May 9th and the 14th on May 30th.
production
The series was produced on behalf of West German advertising television . Presumably there were more than 14 episodes, as the plot appears to break off with the last episode broadcast (No. 14). Participants in relevant Internet forums reported that their inquiries with television stations had revealed that the tapes and documents for the series were lost.

The East-West conflict, which was still current at the time the series was created, is evident in the agents Prof. Bond and Leontev as well as in the appearance of other mysterious people and organizations.
