The only moderately convex, unevenly hinged housings are oblique-rounded with a maximum diameter of up to five centimeters, in the Arctic also up to 6.2 cm. The lower right flap is only z. Sometimes red (on the vertebra and / or on the edge) or even white. The thin shell is translucent and fragile.

Geographical distribution and habitat

Taxonomy

The taxon was established in 1771 by Carl von Linné as Ostrea peslutrae . In 1776 Otto Friedrich Müller suggested the name Pecten septemradiatus for the species . This name prevailed predominantly in the literature, but is treated in the more recent literature as a younger synonym of Pseudamussium peslutrae . Pecten septemradiatus Müller, 1776 is the type species of the genus Pseudamussium Mörch, 1853.
