The Siebenzwingstein - also referred to as Sibe Zwingstei on maps - is a border point in the canton of Aargau in Switzerland , which is marked by interlocking granite blocks.
The border point marks the border between the three communities Gränichen , Teufenthal and Seon . At the same time, it marks the border between three districts in the canton of Aargau: Lenzburg , Kulm and Aarau . The Siebenzwingstein lies at 607 m above sea level. M.
The name of the stone comes from the fact that seven municipalities, districts or Zwinge used to come together here. In the past, a compulsory district usually comprised several villages with a common judicial system. The 7 areas were:
- Kulm district: Teufenthal
- Dürrenäsch (for inexplicable reasons no longer extends to the Siebenzwingstein)
- Retterswil (incorporated into the Seon community since 1898)
- District of Lenzburg: Seon
- Aarau district: Gränichen
- Liebegg (has become part of the Gränichen community)
- Trostburg (now part of Teufenthal)
From today's point of view, it is inexplicable why all these boundaries came together at a point that was difficult to define in the middle of the Liebeggerwald.
