The Herzberg – Siebertal railway , also known as the Siebertalbahn , was a standard-gauge , single-track , non- electrified branch line in Lower Saxony . It ran in today's urban area from Herzberg am Harz to Lonauerhammerhütte . After their incorporation, the station was called " Siebertal ".

history

In 1913 the construction of a railway line Elbingerode - St. Andreasberg - Herzberg (western extension of the Rübelandbahn ) or to Clausthal-Zellerfeld to the Oberharzbahn through the Siebertal and Sieber had begun. However, the work was canceled in the First World War .

In June 1931, the Reckmann company from Halle began building a "Herzberg – Sieber railway line" based on the preparatory work of 1913. However, only the section from Herzberg became the "provisional" loading station and later the Siebertal freight station as well a second Sieberbrücke and a piece of route built.

The finished piece and the connections were in operation from December 1, 1931 to December 31, 1994 and were primarily used for freight transport to a paper mill (now the Smurfit Kappa Group ) in the Sieber Valley . Until 1961, non-public company personnel traffic was also offered. For this, the “Herzberg Trift” stop should also be built at km 4.9. On August 1, 1995, the line was officially closed.
