Siegbert Kreuter

Siegbert Kreuter (* 1929 in Mitterndorf , Carinthia ) is a calm general of the Austrian Armed Forces and the author of several publications.

Life

Siegbert Kreuter was born the son of a woodcutter in Mitterndorf. He began his professional life as a postal worker. In May 1952 he joined the B-Gendarmerie , the predecessor organization of the Armed Forces in occupied post-war Austria , and he then graduated from the Obere Fellach Gendarmerie School in Carinthia.

After he was taken over by the Austrian Armed Forces in 1955 , he completed a staff officer course at the Infantry School of the United States Army in Fort Benning in 1963 and then from 1963 to 1966 the Austrian General Staff Training at the 4th General Staff Course of the Austrian Armed Forces.

He was then chief of staff in the 1st Jäger Brigade , later he held a number of functions in the organization, mobilization and training department of the Federal Ministry for National Defense . In 1972 he became Chief of Staff of the Burgenland Military Command and in 1974 he was promoted to Colonel in the General Staff.

From 1979 to 1985 he was military commander of Burgenland , until he was transferred in 1986 as head of the inspection group and deputy section head in the Federal Ministry of National Defense.

In 1994 he went into retirement.

Others

Siegbert Kreuter was the author of several scientific publications on military personnel and operations in war history. He bears the professional title of professor and he was a member of the federal socialist academics.
