Siegfried Heier

Siegfried Heier (born May 4, 1946 in Vellberg ) is a German engineer and university professor . He is one of the most respected scientists in wind energy technology and is the author of two standard works in this field.

Live and act

After studying and doing his doctorate on wind turbines in grid operation , he worked as a lecturer at the University of Kassel for more than 30 years until his retirement in 2011 , where he was most recently professor of the wind power technology department in the electrical power supply systems department of the Institute for Electrical Power Engineering. His main research topics were component and system development, system control and the grid integration of wind turbines . He is the author of several authoritative textbooks , e.g. Some of them have also been translated into English and several revised versions have been published in German (see below). He also published over 100 specialist articles.

Heier was also active in various national and supranational organizations. From 2003 to 2009 he was chairman of the scientific advisory board at the German Wind Energy Association and until the end of 2010 deputy chairman of the committee for the certification and recurring testing of wind turbines at Germanischer Lloyd . In addition, he was an appointed member of the VDI specialist committee for renewable energy until March 2012 and spoke as an expert in committees of the EU and the International Energy Agency .
