Siegfried Müller (pedagogue)

Siegfried Müller (born August 2, 1940 in Bielefeld ; † June 12, 2017 there ) was Professor i. R. for educational science at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen . There he held the chair for social education . His main focus was on social work theory, social administration and deviance education.

After an apprenticeship as a technical draftsman and several years of professional activity in industry, Müller first studied at the Higher Technical School for Social Work in Bielefeld with a degree as a state-recognized social worker , whereupon he studied sociology , psychology and educational science at the Ruhr as a scholarship holder of the Victor Gollancz Foundation -Universität Bochum and Bielefeld University followed, from which he graduated with a diploma in sociology. Afterwards he was first a lecturer and then a research assistant at the Pedagogical University of Westphalia-Lippe , where he started his career in 1978 with the topic “Social Problems: Theoretical preparatory work for the analysis of socio-educationally relevant problem areas. A research guide "to the Dr. paed. received his doctorate . The Habilitation at the University of Bielefeld and the award of the Venia legendi for the subject of social pedagogy in 1980. From 1981 until his retirement in 2006, he was Professor of Education with a focus on social education, first at the University of Bielefeld and then from 1982 at the Eberhard Karls University Tübingen.
