Siegfried Perleberg
Siegfried Perleberg (born March 5, 1932 in Arnswalde ) is a former German athlete who won a GDR championship title in hammer throw and was later team champion with Leverkusen ten times.
Perleberg began his career at SG Greifswald , which merged with HSG Wissenschaft Greifswald . In 1956 he belonged to the SC Traktor Schwerin and won the championship title of the GDR with 52.51 m and 28 centimeters ahead of Werner Seipolt from Berlin.
Shortly afterwards, Perleberg left for the Federal Republic of Germany . First he started for SC Charlottenburg , from 1961 he was active at Bayer 04 Leverkusen . In 1958 and 1960 Perleberg won the German university championships, in 1962 and 1963 Perleberg reached second place behind Hans Fahsl at the German championships . Perleberg threw his best performance in 1962 with 62.70 m. With Bayer Leverkusen under their head coach Bert Sumser , Perleberg won seven German team championship titles in a row from 1961 to 1967. Perleberg was also part of the Leverkusen winning team when they won titles in 1969, 1971 and 1973.
Perleberg had a competition weight of 95 kg with a height of 1.72 m. After completing his competitive sports career, he was active for a long time in lawn strength sports , where he had started in the heavyweight division in the early 1960s, and in the late 1970s he competed in the middleweight division. After his career, Siegfried Perleberg was a high school teacher at the Carl-Duisberg-Gymnasium in Leverkusen.
