Siegfried Sattlberger

Siegfried Sattlberger (born February 26, 1940 in Kirchdorf an der Krems ) is a former Austrian politician ( ÖVP ), trade unionist and state employee. From 1984 to 1991 he was a member of the Austrian Federal Council .

education and profession

Sattlberger attended elementary school from 1946 to 1950 and attended secondary school from 1950 to 1954. He then learned the trade of building and art fitter from 1955 to 1958 and attended vocational school parallel to his apprenticeship . In 1960 he did military service. Sattlberger worked from 1965 to 1984 as district party secretary of the ÖVP Kirchdorf an der Krems and from 1965 to 1966 he graduated from the Social Academy in Vienna. He entered the service of the province of Upper Austria in 1984 and was employed in the provincial service until 1991. Sattlberger also worked professionally for the public service union (Section 9, Institutions and Companies).

Politics and functions

Sattlberger joined the Austrian Workers' Union in 1961 and thereby also became a member of the Austrian People's Party in Upper Austria. He began his political career in local politics, where he was a member of the Kirchdorf an der Krems municipal council from 1967 to 1973. From 1969 to 1991 he acted as district chairman of the Austrian workers' and salaried workers' union of Kirchdorf an der Krems and also had the function of city group chairman of the Upper Austrian senior citizens' union in Kirchdorf an der Krems. Since 1995 he has also been the district chairman of the Upper Austrian Seniors' Association in Kirchdorf an der Krems. In addition, Sattlberger held the position of regional representative in the Upper Austrian Seniors' Union. Furthermore, he worked from 1974 to 1990 as a chamber councilor and member of the chamber board of the chamber for workers and salaried employees for Upper Austria and was district chairman in the Austrian trade union confederation Kirchdorf an der Krems. On July 1, 1984, Sattlberger succeeded Josef Knoll as a member of the Federal Council, of which he was a member until March 31, 1991.
