Siegfried Schmieder

Siegfried Schmieder (born February 9, 1939 in Marienberg ; † November 2, 2010 in Warendorf ) was the long-time director of the Warendorf district archive and author of a large number of articles and publications on regional history.

Life

Siegfried Schmieder was born on February 9, 1939 in Marienberg. In 1945 the family fled to the Rhineland. Abitur in 1961 at the Collegium Augustinianum Gaesdonck . Then studied history and German in Münster. 1967 Archivist in the District Archives District Beckum and after the end of the circle 1974 in the district of Warendorf . His services include building up the district archive and opening up the Liesborn monastery . He wrote numerous inventory books. When he started working in 1967 he founded the series “Sources and Research on the History of the Warendorf District”, which he continued up to volume 38. In addition, he went public with numerous publications.
