Siegfried Suckut

Siegfried Suckut (* 1945 ) is a German political scientist and historian .

Suckut holds a degree in political science, modern history and economics at the Free University of Berlin and the Technical University of Hannover , where he in 1978 with one of Peter von Oertzen supervised work at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences to Dr. rer. pole. received his doctorate . Then he was from 1978 to 1992 as a research associate at the of Hermann Weber and Dietrich Staritz built workspace history and politics of the GDR at the University of Mannheim operates. Since 1992, he has been actively involved as a department head in the development of the education and research department in the authority of the Federal Commissioner for Stasi Records , which he was in charge of between 1997 and 2005.
