The Eberz (also written Eberts or Ebertz ) were originally a patrician family from Isny in the Allgäu . In 1543 Kaspar Eberz (* 1450; † 1526) received a letter of nobility from Emperor Charles V , which was renewed in 1667 by Emperor Leopold I for Abraham Eberz , Mayor of Isny.

The Eberz in Isny

This Swabian family has been known in Isny ​​since the 14th century. In Isny ​​there is a Eberzstraße that still reminds of this family today.

Possessions in the Upper Palatinate

Various descendants of these families have also acquired properties in the Upper Palatinate.

Sun acquired Johann Wilhelm von Eberts , Elector Palatine captain, the good lock Troschelhammer from the heirs of Hans Kaspar of zippers . They had to auction their property in 1711 in order to be able to satisfy the remaining siblings' inheritance claims. Johann Wilhelm von Eberts was the husband of the daughter of Reiss, Maria Anna von Eberts , who was referred to as a widow as early as 1722. She only sold the estate to her son Maximilian Philipp Adolph von Eberts in 1741 . As his successor in ownership, Johann Adam von Gravenreuth was assigned to the Troschelhammer estate in 1749 .

On February 19, 1749 Maria Anna von Eberts , née Reisser to Troschelhammer, from the widow of Friedrich Josef Münsterer the hammer mill in Unterschnaittenbach . In 1759 her daughter was Maria Elisbetha, married. Danielin von Froschheim , mistress of the estate. As a result, the property was sold and then changed hands frequently.

Georg Ernst von Reiß wanted to sell his share in Pechhof in 1732 to Johann Friedrich von Eberts , caretaker of Weiden in the Upper Palatinate and of Parkstein and owner of Pechhofen, but this was initially rejected by the electoral government in Amberg . Nevertheless, Johann Friedrich von Eberts came into possession of three parts from Pechhof and on August 1, 1737 also acquired the fourth part from Eva Christina von Schaidau, née von Podewils . On May 12, 1762, however, the widow of Johann Friedrich von Eberts sold the Pechhof estate to Joseph von Heldmann .

In Kaimling , Isaak von Eberz bought the Hofmark from Ludwig Baron von Karg for 17,500 florins in 1787 . This young owner had an accident after six months and so this property came to Theobald Graf von Butler .

Johann Isaak Freiherrn von Eberts was able to acquire her estate of Witzlasreuth from the widow of Johann Eder von Bernfeld in 1780 . However, the validity of the purchase contract resulted in a long-term process that was only ended on April 20, 1803 due to a settlement with the Ebert's heirs; at that time Johann Thomas Röthel received the country estate on Kaufweg.

The Freiherr von Eberts have been recorded at Roggenstein Castle in the Upper Palatinate town of Roggenstein since 1738 . Johann Friedrich von Eberts bought the estate from Baron Christoph von Seiboldsdorf . The next here was his son Adam von Eberz , also a keeper of Weiden. He was married to Franziska von Podewils and died in 1792 at the age of 42. The local feudal rule ended under his sons Wilhelm Heinrich († 1836), lawyer and qualified captain, and Johann Baptist , battalion adjutant in Weiden. In 1859 Johann Baptist sold the estate to Johann von Grafenstein .

The new coat of arms is quartered. In the first and fourth quarters there is a left-looking boar head, in the second and third quarters there is a crowned golden lion. Above are two helmets, in the first a crowned lion growing between two horns is depicted, the second is an open golden flight with two boar heads on the left. Ceilings quartered and gold.
