Siegfried Verhein

Siegfried Verhein ( October 1, 1897 - June 30, 1963 ) was a German officer , last lieutenant general in World War II . He was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on February 28, 1945 as major general of a combat group of the 551st People's Grenadier Division . In the final weeks of the war, Verhein led the 28th Infantry Division as commander until it surrendered.
