Siegmund Burger

Siegmund Burger (born September 4, 1921 in Gnesau , † March 11, 1992 in Leoben ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and a member of the National Council .

Life

Siegmund Burger attended a three-class elementary school in Gnesau. After working as a farm worker, he joined the SS on January 21, 1938, therefore during the "illegal period" , most recently in the rank of SS-Obersturmführer in the 5th SS Panzer Division "Wiking" .

After the Second World War he worked from 1948 as a metal worker in the Donawitz iron and steel works . From 1954 Burger was a workers' works council at VOEST-Alpine , from 1956 a member of the state executive of ÖGB Styria and since 1958 a member of the central works council of VOEST-Alpine. In 1962 he became the main district chairman of the ÖAAB Leoben and in 1964 Burger became regional and federal deputy chairman of the ÖAAB .

From 1965 to 1970 he was a member of the Styrian Landtag and from 1969 to 1982 he held the position of Vice President of the Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees for Styria. From 1984 to 1992 he was Vice President of the Austrian Comradeship Association of Styria.

From March 31, 1970 to February 15, 1982 Siegmund Burger was a member of the National Council of the XII. up to the XV. Legislative period .
