The Siegwerk AG & Co. KGaA is an international manufacturer of printing inks .
Company data
Siegwerk is the third largest manufacturer in the international printing inks industry after Sun Chemical and the Flint Group . Annual production is 250,000 tons, half of which is produced by the German subsidiary Siegwerk Druckfarben AG & Co. KGaA at the headquarters in Siegburg . Of the total of 5,195 employees, over 1,000 work there. There are other German locations in Backnang and Büdingen .
The company is divided into the areas (“Business Units”) of flexible packaging, sheetfed offset & UV, paper & cardboard, tobacco, labels, beverage packaging and illustration gravure. It is family owned.
history
The company's predecessor was the Kattun printing and dyeing works Rolffs & Cie , which was founded in Cologne in 1830 and moved to Siegburg in 1840. The first branch was opened in Friedland in 1883 . In 1906 the "Deutsche Photogravur AG" and in 1911 the "Siegwerk Chemisches Laboratorium" were added as further companies. In 1936 the name “Siegwerk Farbenfabrik Keller, Dr. Rung and Co. ”adopted after the founders in 1911; the calico printing plant had closed in 1914. In 1970 the first foreign subsidiary, "Siegwerk Inc.", was founded in the USA. In 1995 a new name was adopted for the German company, this time "Siegwerk Druckfarben GmbH & Co. KG", and in 2002, after the establishment of several other foreign companies, finally "Siegwerk Druckfarben AG". In 2003, the American competitor CCI Color Converting was taken over, and in 2005 the packaging paints business of the Swiss Sicpa Holding SA , adding 2800 employees and € 400 million in sales to the previous 1,300 employees and € 475 million in sales.
Social
The group is also socially committed in Mexico City , Lipa City and has the sponsorship from the SOS Children's Village Poá in Brazil adopted. For the latter, the company was the first to be awarded the Children's Village Cup in 2014.
