The Siemens high-rise in Bremen is an administration building near the main train station . The high-rise planned by architects Max Säum and Th. Siegfried A. Morschel in 1961/62 as the seat of the Bremen branch of the Siemens group was completed in 1965. The 61 meter high building with 16  storeys was the tallest office building in the city until the Weser Tower was erected . Today it serves as the administrative headquarters of some Bremen authorities.

history

At the same time, the Tivoli high-rise, two multi-storey car parks, as well as an eight- and a six-story building were built, which together with two-story rows of shops around the Siemens high-rise form an ensemble of buildings .

The building is fully air-conditioned and corresponded to the state of the art at the time. The flexible office space was arranged on the long sides and offered space for up to 700 employees, the majority of whom worked in the Siemens field throughout northern Germany. There was a company canteen on the top floor, which also served Siemens customers. The underground car park was designed in such a way that technical equipment and spare parts could be delivered and returned quickly. There are six passenger elevators and one freight elevator in the building. The north / south orientation of the building was a challenge for the air conditioning and sun protection on the south side.

In 1997 the city of Bremen bought the building from Siemens AG. After the renovation for purely administrative purposes and the renewal of the infrastructure, the Senator for Social Affairs, parts of the building administration and the offices for building regulations and urban planning moved here. The construction company Zechbau bought the skyscraper in 2000 and then sold it on. A 30-year lease ensures the current owner, a Munich real estate fund , constant income. After over the years there had been more and more complaints from officials about malfunctions in the now outdated air conditioning system and the non-opening windows, preparations for moving out of around 350 employees took place in April 2010. The refurbishment of the Siemens high-rise included a renovation of the entire building Facade and the installation of windows that can also be opened. After a construction phase of around one year, the authorities moved into the renewed, partially redesigned rooms at the beginning of November 2011, while the ground floor with a new citizen service center for the construction department was still being redesigned.
