Sighnaghi (Signagi, Georgian სიღნაღი ) is a city in the Kakheti region in eastern Georgia .

Sighnaghi is the administrative center of the municipality of Sighnaghi and one of the smallest cities in Georgia with 1,485 inhabitants according to the 2014 census. Sighnaghi is located 52 km southeast of Telavi , the capital of the Kakheti region.

Sighnaghi has a well-preserved city wall from the 18th century and cobbled streets. Together with the location on a hill, it has a special charm. In recent years, Sighnagi has been rehabilitated with funds from various sources and prepared for tourism. Since then, the city has been a tourist center and has facilities such as a station for shared taxis, bus parking spaces as well as hotels and restaurants. Local products are offered in the market. The city is located in the middle of a wine-growing region and so wine also plays an important role in the city and there are corresponding offers and wine tastings.

Signgaghi calls itself "the Georgian city of love". Since in Georgia you can get married at any registry office, the location is often chosen by couples for the civil wedding because of its backdrop. The town hall is set up accordingly and has a 24-hour service seven days a week.

In the village there is the Sighnaghi Museum as part of the Georgian National Museum. Archaeological finds, information on the city's history and works by Niko Pirosmani and Lado Gudiaschwili are shown there. A large statue shows the philosopher Solomon Dodashvili .

There are four Georgian Orthodox churches in the village. About 2 km from Sighnaghi is the Bodbe Monastery , which is built over the burial place of Saint Nino . In the vicinity of the place is also the source of Saint Nino. The water from the spring is used for baptism ceremonies and is said to have healing properties. Pilgrims can wash themselves with the water from the spring in a bathhouse.
