The Sigma class is a corvette class of the Dutch Damen Shipyards Group . Similar to the German corvette K130, they are designed between the speedboat and the frigate .

The design of the Sigma corvettes is conceived in such a way that they can be built up modularly according to the needs of the customers. For this, both the fuselage and the weapon systems are divided into components that can be installed according to the order. The term Sigma ( S hip I ntegrated G eometrical M odularity A pproach, English approximately S chiff i ntegrated, g eometrischer, m odularer A TRUCTURE) stands for Pate. The SIGMA 9113 classification means that the ship is 91 meters long and 13 meters wide.

history

Indonesia

The Indonesian variant is based on the Sigma 9113 design. Construction of the first unit, KRI Diponegoro , began in October 2004. It was baptized on September 16, 2006 and taken into service on July 2, 2007.

The option for two more units was exercised in January 2006, with the first unit being laid down on April 3, 2006 at the Damen shipyard in Vlissingen .

On August 28, 2007 it was announced that Indonesia was having problems acquiring the Exocet missiles and that it was planned to convert the ships to Chinese C-802 anti-ship missiles .

In December 2012, Indonesia signed a contract with Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding to build the first Sigma 10514 frigate. The contract to build the second frigate was signed on February 14, 2013. The keel-laying of the first ship took place on January 15, 2014.

Morocco

On February 6, 2008, Morocco signed a contract for two SIGMA 9813 corvettes and one SIGMA 10513 frigate with a total budget of US $ 1.2 billion .

In addition, on April 1, 2008, a contract was signed with Thales for the delivery of electronic systems, command and control systems and sensors. The package contains the TACTICOS combat management system, SMART-S Mk2 surveillance and LIROD Mk2 target lighting radar, Thales KINGKLIP sonar, IFF systems, communication systems, the ESM VIGILE system, the ECM SCORPION system and closed navigation systems.
