Sigmund Gerstl (also Sigmund Gerstel ; from 1488 Sigmund Gerstl zu Gerstburg ) was multiple mayor of the city of Bozen in the second half of the 15th century . He served as the highest municipal official in 1474, 1480 and 1486/87.

Around 1488 Gerstl acquired a former yard near Maretsch Castle called "Zum Winkel" and received the title of nobility Sigmund Gerstl zu Gerstburg on the property raised to the status of the Gerstburg residence .

From 1469 Gerstl is also attested as a bailiff of the Lords of Niedertor, whose properties in Bolzano he administered. 1466 and 1476 is attested as holder of the civil rights . In the years from 1490 to 1498 he worked as a director of the local Heiliggeistspital . From 1497 Gerstl acted as the princely tax collector of King Maximilian I in Tyrol.

In a Bozen building tax directory from 1497, two houses under the northern Bozen arcades are referred to as Gerstls haus and Gerstls heusl . In the same year Gerstl lent a Steffan Aichpuchler zu Boczen a vineyard on the Bozen soil in exchange for white and black wine in the Gerstburg.
