Signe Theill

Signe Theill (* 1960 in Düsseldorf ) is a German installation artist who lives and works in Berlin .

life and work

Signe Theill studied from 1980 to 1987 at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Hamburg with Claus Böhmler .

"The ship's carpet" is a paper object that was exhibited at documenta 7 in Kassel in 1982 . The photo work “As far as the eye can see” initially evokes the illusion that the viewer is standing in front of a flock of sheep. The objects consist of photos in the form of sheep, on which sheep are depicted, mounted on aluminum on both sides. The installation was designed for the round courtyard of the Wilmersdorf town hall . The work cycle "Nature Morte" (1989 to 1994) deals with the destruction of nature.

In 2003 Signe Theil curated the exhibition double bind at Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin.

In 2005 Signe Theill took part in the feminist documentary Mitten im Malestream by Helke Sander .
