Sigrún Ólafsdóttir (* 1963 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic visual artist .

life and work

Sigrún Ólafsdóttir initially studied sculpture in Reykjavík and continued her training from 1990 to 1994 at the Saar College of Fine Arts in Saarbrücken . She was a master student of Wolfgang Nestler . In addition to painting and drawing, Sigrún Ólafsdóttir stood out particularly through her sculptures. These are mostly very large objects that convey a surprising lightness despite the material used (often wood and steel ).

She lives and works in Saarbrücken .
