Amka was the name of an ancient Egyptian high official who worked under the kings ( pharaohs ) Djer , Wadji and Den in the 1st dynasty . He is the first early Egyptian civil servant whose professional career can be traced almost completely.

Amka's name appears on seal impressions from the tombs of Kings Djer, Wadji and Den, as well as the tomb of Queen Meritneith in the royal cemetery of Abydos .

Amka is an official of the early dynasties who served several kings at the same time. His career began in the final years of King Djer's reign, continued under Wadji and ended in the first years of King Den's reign. During the reign of Djer he was already involved in the administration of the domain "Hor-sixenti-dju" and carried the titles "Nebi" and "Heri-nechenu". The latter title he still wore under King Wadji. Under Meritneith and Den he had already passed the high point of his career after he became a priest of the dead (Egypt. " Sechenu-ach "). In his last office, Amka supervised the region "House of the Cattle" (Egypt. Hut-ihut ), which was located in the western Nile Delta , as a division manager (Egypt. Adj-mer ) . It appears that Amka had moved from his previous position as royal administrator to the regional administrative level.
