Toby Wilkinson

Toby AH Wilkinson (* 1969 ) is a British Egyptologist .

Career

Wilkinson studied Egyptology at Downing College at the University of Cambridge and graduated with honors (First Class Honors); he also received the University's Thomas Mulvey Prize. 1993 followed the Ph.D. Graduated from Christ's College, University of Cambridge, where he was Lady Wallis Budge Junior Research Fellow from 1993 to 1997 . From 1997 to 1999 he was a Leverhulme Special Research Fellow at the University of Durham and then returned to Cambridge, where he has been a Fellow at Clare College since 2003 .

Wilkinson is considered one of the most important English Egyptologists of his generation and has lectured worldwide. He has excavated Egypt in Buto and Memphis and became known to a wide audience through appearances in a number of BBC and Channel 4 television documentaries about Egypt, including Horizon and Private Lives of the Pharaohs . In July 2011 he became head of the International Strategy Office at Cambridge University. He currently lives in Suffolk .
