Sigrid Quack

Sigrid Quack (born July 17, 1958 ) is a German social scientist who works in the field of comparative sociology. She is professor of sociology at the University of Duisburg-Essen , where she is director of the Center for Global Cooperation Research. Quack has among others the Watson Institute for International Studies, Brown University , the Ecole Normal Superieur de Cachan, of Uppsala University and at the University of Cambridge research and teaching.

Life

Quack studied sociology at the University of Paris VIII and the Free University of Berlin . She received her doctorate from the Free University of Berlin in 1992 and then worked at the Berlin Science Center for Social Research . In 2007 she completed her habilitation on the topic of cross-border development of institutions. From 2007 to 2013, she was an adjunct professor at the University of Cologne based at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies . Quack was appointed to the University of Duisburg-Essen in 2013 and has been a professor of sociology, especially comparative and transnational sociology, ever since. At the same time, she is still an associated research associate and associate head of the research group Cross-Border Institution Building at the Max Planck Institute for Social Research in Cologne. In 2017 she became Managing Director of the Käte Hamburger Kolleg / Center for Global Cooperation Research, which is an interdisciplinary institution for cutting-edge research for global cooperation research at the University of Duisburg-Essen. The college is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research .
