Sigrid von Blanckenhagen (* 1918 in Konstanz ; † 2005 there ) was a German art historian and museum director.

Live and act

Sigrid von Blanckenhagen was the eldest daughter of the Constance pharmacist and museum director Bruno Leiner . From 1940 to 1945 she studied art history, classical archeology as well as prehistory and early history at the University of Marburg. In 1946 she supported her father significantly in the organization of the much-acclaimed “International Art Week of the City of Constance”, an exhibition of works that were not allowed to be shown during the Nazi era. After the death of her father in 1955, she took over the management of the Rosgarten Museum in Konstanz . The Rosgarten Museum shows the history and culture of the city of Konstanz and its surroundings; It was founded in 1870 by her great-grandfather Ludwig Leiner and has since been run by members of the Leiner family on a part-time basis. Sigrid von Blanckenhagen was the first full-time director and at the same time the last member of the Leiner family to head the museum. In 1962 she suggested founding the Society of Friends of the Rosgarten Museum; In 1983 she retired.

Sigrid von Blanckenhagen was married to the classical archaeologist Peter Heinrich von Blanckenhagen (* 1909, † 1990).
