Silver treasure from Rogozen
The silver treasure of Rogozen ( Bulgarian Рогозенско съкровище , transkr. Rogosensko skrowischte ) is a Thracian silver treasure that was found in the northern Bulgarian village of Rogosen.
The treasure was found by chance in 1985 by a tractor driver in his garden and consists of 108 phials , 54 jugs and 3 goblets . The richly gold-plated silver vessels weigh more than 20 kg. The ornamentation is made out as a different relief for each object , which makes this treasure an important source of information about the Thracians .
The northern Bulgarian village and the treasure have been namesake for the island of Rogozen Island in Antarctica since 2008 .
