Silja Häusermann

Silja Häusermann (* 1977 in Lucerne , Switzerland ) is a Swiss political scientist . As a professor, she heads the Chair for Swiss Politics and Comparative Political Economy at the Institute for Political Science (IPZ) at the University of Zurich .

Live and act

Silja Häusermann studied political science at the University of Geneva between 1997 and 2001 . On Idheap the University of Lausanne , she completed a postgraduate degree in Public Administration . Between 2000 and 2007 she was an assistant at the University of Lausanne and then at the University of Zurich, where she received her doctorate. This was followed by a research stay at the Government Department of Harvard University in Cambridge , USA . From 2007 to 2011 she did research as a senior assistant at the Chair of Comparative Politicsof the University of Zurich. From 2011 to 2012 Häusermann taught and researched as a junior professor in political science at the University of Konstanz . Since September 2012 she has held the Chair of Swiss Politics and Comparative Political Economy at the Institute for Political Science. In 2018 she received the UZH teaching award for the excellent quality of her teaching.

Research priorities

Häusermann's research focuses on comparative welfare state research, comparative political economy, pension and family policy, party and association systems, political analysis and Europeanization / internationalization.
