Grigor Hachinjan
Grigor Muscheghi Hachinjan (also Grigor Hakhinyan, Armenian Գրիգոր Մուշեղի Հախինյան , Russian Григор Мушегович Ахинян Grigor Muschegowitsch Achinjan * 20th April 1926 in Karakilis, Armenian SSR , Soviet Union , today Vanadzor , Armenia , † 6. March 1991 ) was a Soviet composer and Music pedagogue of Armenian origin.
life and work
Grigor Muscheghi Hachinjan graduated from the Yerevan State Conservatory in 1957 . He was a student in the composition class of Grigor Jeghiasarjan . In the same year he wrote a violin concerto. From 1950 to 1960 he directed an entertainment orchestra. In the 1950s he wrote a suite for orchestra in 1955, a violin concerto in 1957, six children's songs for violin and piano in 1958 and a symphonic poem for orchestra in 1959. In 1960 an overture with the title ликование [ Linkowanje , German: Jubel ] followed. In the early 1960s he wrote three ballets: Ախթամար [Akhtamar] (1961), Լոռեցի Սաքոն [Lorenzi Sakon] (1961) based on a poem by Howhannes Tumanjan and Ուռենի [Ureni] (1963). In 1961 he also wrote a dance suite for an orchestra with folk instruments. From 1961 to 1976 he taught at the Romanos Melikjan Music School in Yerevan. In 1963 he composed the cantata Սայաթ-Նովա [ Sajat Nowa ] and the music for the short film Տերն ու ծառան [Lord and Servant]. In 1964 he worked on the music for the film Մսյո Ժակը և ուրիշները and composed chamber music, namely a string quartet and a piano trio . In 1967 he wrote the music for the film Из времени года and the oratorio Թոնդրակյաններ [ Tondrakians ], which thematizes the Christian sect of the Tondrakians based on the work of the same name by Wahagn Dawtjan (1922–1996) . Since 1968 he was a member of the CPSU . Since 1970 he has been teaching at the Yerevan Conservatory. He wrote his first symphony in 1969. In 1970 he wrote the opera Լեգենդի մարդը [The Man of Legend]. In 1972 he received the title of Honored Artist of Armenian SSR awarded . In 1973 the opera Ծովինար [Zowinar] followed, the second symphony, in 1975 a trombone concerto and in 1978 the third symphony in addition to a violin sonata. In 1981 a sonata for violin and violoncello followed. 1983 the third and fourth symphonies. In 1981 he became a lecturer and in 1989 professor at the State Conservatory in Yerevan. In 1985 he composed a concerto for viola and orchestra. In 1990 he was awarded the honorary title of People's Artist of the Armenian SSR.
Furthermore, Hachinjan wrote romances, songs, between 1963 and 1985 a total of 4 cantatas and light music, including for entertainment orchestras. He also wrote music for the stage and film.

The music school in Vanadzor was named after Grigor Hakhinjan.
