Joseph Heiserer (born January 23, 1794 in Affing , † September 16, 1858 in Munich ) was a German town clerk in Wasserburg am Inn. He rendered many services to the citizens of the city.

Life

Joseph Heiserer went to school in Dillingen on the Danube (grammar school from 1805 to 1810, lyceum from 1810 to 1812). He then studied law at the University of Landshut . In 1812 he became a member of the Corps Suevia Landshut / Munich . After graduating in 1815, he was a trainee lawyer in Affing (near Augsburg), Wasserburg am Inn and Munich. In 1819 he became a so-called legally qualified, lifelong town clerk in Wasserburg. According to his biographer Scheidacher, his successful application for the position was due to his strong affection for the city and its people. Heiserer was married twice, with a son from the first marriage and another from the second.

Social work

Hoiserer was more than just a town clerk. He also worked as a court clerk , as an archivist, as an author of regional and city history works, as a city chronicler , as a poor welfare council (employee in the social welfare administration) and as a member of the savings bank commission. The Städtische Sparkasse Wasserburg was founded at the instigation of Heiserer. It started work on October 1, 1826 and is one of the oldest savings banks in Bavaria. Heiserer also initiated the municipal kindergarten . From 1819 to 1858 he put on a collection of old coins, weapons and other historical objects. It was auctioned after his death and thus scattered to the wind. Nevertheless, it can be seen as the forerunner of the Wasserburg Museum .

His biographer Ludwig Scheidacher also names a necrology by the city pastor Theodor Paul König. This certifies Heiserer a musical talent and a sonorous tenor voice.
