Silke Klewin

Silke Klewin (born March 2, 1967 in Gehrden ) is a German historian and the scientific director of the Bautzen Memorial .

Career

After studying German and history with a focus on contemporary history and the history of the GDR at the Universities of Hanover and Vienna , which Klewin completed with a Magister Artium in 1994, she completed a scientific traineeship at the Museum of Transport History and Technology in Berlin (now the German Museum of Technology ) Berlin . There she carried out the project coordination of the technical-historical-biographical special exhibition "I only served the technology - eight careers between 1940 and 1950", and Klewin also worked on the exhibition unit "Zeitbogen 1940-1950". She was responsible for the editorial coordination of the accompanying volume for this exhibition.

From 1996 to 1999 Klewin, as an employee of the Bautzen Komitee eV, was responsible for the scientific management of the project group “Construction of the Bautzen Memorial ”, of which she has been the head since the memorial opened in April 1999. Klewin works for the Saxon Memorials Foundation .
