Silvan Thüler , better known in Switzerland as Sämi Thüler , (born August 1, 1932 in Solothurn ; † August 13, 2011 in Riehen ) was a Swiss football player ( defender ).

Career

He played for FC Solothurn until 1955 and in 1952 he was promoted to National League B with the "Ambassadors" . At FC Basel he played for seven years under coaches Béla Sárosi , Rudolf Strittich , René Bader, Jenő Vincze and Georges Sobotka . After 1962, Thüler ended his career as an active footballer as a first division player at FC Concordia Basel .

In 1956 and 1958, "Sämi" Thüler played two international matches with the Swiss national team . His debut was in the legendary 3-1 away win against Germany on November 21, 1956 at Frankfurt's Waldstadion .

He married Lotti Feller in April 1956. They had two daughters, the twins Barbara and Silvia. Professionally, Thüler initially worked for the Basel gas and waterworks, later he ran several restaurants together with his wife Lotti, before the couple took over the management of the Wenkenhof in Riehen.
