Silver Style Studios was a German computer game developer based in Berlin .
Company history
The company was founded in 1993 by Carsten Strehse, who had worked as a game developer for the Commodore 64 since 1988 while studying business administration . In cooperation with RTL New Media , Silver Style developed several licensed games for TV programs. At the beginning of the 2000s, there was a reorientation towards computer role-playing games and tactical games . Silver Style concluded global marketing agreements with software publishers such as THQ and Atari . The company attracted more attention with its post-apocalyptic role-playing game The Fall: Last Days of Gaia . After the liquidation of Black Isle Studios (BIS) and the associated suspension of the post-apocalyptic role-playing game Fallout 3 ( Van Buren ) , Silver Style engaged the dismissed BIS designers Damien Folletto and Jeff Husges to achieve publicity. The title first appeared in November 2004, but suffered from numerous bugs when it appeared. It was not until the Reloaded version published, revised and expanded in terms of content in July 2006, that most of these problems were eliminated.
In April 2006, Silver Style Entertainment became a subsidiary of the games publisher The Games Company (TGC), which was co-founded by Carsten Strehse . Under The Games Company, the company mainly developed point-and-click adventures such as Everlight: Elves in Power and two titles in the Simon the Sorcerer adventure series .
In 2008, the company announced the development of the role-playing game Das Schwarze Auge: Demonicon , but in fact the game never got beyond the concept phase and a demo level under the direction of The Games Company. After The Games Company had to file for bankruptcy in July 2010, Silver Styles parent company was broken up and wound up. The rights to Das Schwarze Auge: Demonicon switched to Kalypso Media , where the title was completely redesigned and further developed by Noumena Studios, a development studio founded by parts of the TGC workforce . The Fall: Mutant City , a point & click adventure in the game world of The Fall: Last Days of Gaia , which is already in development , was taken over and published by F + F Publishing. Silver Style Entertainment, on the other hand, was continued as Silver Style Studios under the direction of the long-standing Development Director Ronny Knauth and without the involvement of the company founder Carsten Strehse. The first title after the separation from The Games Company was the browser game Das Schwarze Auge: Herokon Online , whose development was announced in November 2011 and which was published on August 30, 2012 with the open beta .
On June 24, 2014, the company filed for insolvency at the local court in Berlin-Charlottenburg (Ref .: 36s IN 2516/14), which was communicated to the Herokon Online community on June 30, 2014.
