SilverHawks (alternative title: SilverHawks - The Savior of the Universe ) is an American animated series that was first broadcast in the USA from September 8 to December 5, 1986 by Lorimar-Telepictures ( Warner Bros. Television Distribution since 1989 ). In Germany it was broadcast on Sat.1 from April 1992 .

action

The star Moonstar explodes in a nova . Because of the radiation released as a result, the villain Monstar mutates into a fighting machine and can break out of punishment planet 10. Commander Stargazer then sends out the Limbo Galaxy a distress call to Earth, where five volunteers with modified molecular structure in the spaceship Mirage (Engl. Spelling of a base of the Interplanetary Army Miraj be sent) to him.

These so-called SilverHawks consist of Quicksilver (Jonathan Quick), Bluegrass, the twins Steelheart (Emily Hart) and Steelwill (Will Hart), as well as the alien Copper Kidd. They sacrificed parts of their bodies that were replaced by steel equivalents ("human brain, steely muscles") and enabled them to specialize in individual skills (e.g. flying). They are usually accompanied by the cyborg- habicht Tally-Hawk.

Characters

The SilverHawks

  • Commander Stargazer is the operations manager of the SilverHawks and operates from HawkHaven, a satellite orbiting the planet Bedlama . He succeeded in arresting Monstar and imprisoning him on planet 10 before he managed to escape.
  • Quicksilver is the leader of the SilverHawks and former commander of the Interplanetary Army. He has quick reflexes and the tactical execution of Stargazer's plans.
  • Bluegrass is the Mirage's chief pilot and, apart from Stargazer, is the only one who cannot fly independently. The cowboy at heart plays the guitar passionately and also uses it as a weapon in combat.
  • Steelheart and Steelwill are twins and have a very strong empathic connection through which they can even physically perceive the feelings of the other. Therefore, they were the only group members who had to use steel hearts.
  • Copper Kidd is an alien from the planet of the imitators and the youngest of the group. He is a mathematical genius and communicates with whistles. At the end of almost every episode, Bluegrass trains him to be a pilot through quiz questions. To do this, he sits in the Mirage cockpit and enters the answers into the on-board computer .

The companions of the SilverHawks

Each SilverHawk is accompanied by a hawk , each of which has different characteristics and skills.

  • Sly-Bird is Commander Stargazer's companion bird , can fly in space as well as in a planetary atmosphere and is mostly used as a surveillance drone for reconnaissance .
  • Tally-Hawk fights alongside Quicksilver and appears as the only bird in almost every episode. With his ability to fire laser beams , he supports the SilverHawks in battle, with his beak he can smash metal.
  • Sideman , like his companion Bluegrass, can fire blue "music-energy rays". In combat it transforms itself into a guitar-like shape, for flight in atmosphere and space it takes on the shape of a hawk.
  • Stronghold and Rayzor are the hawks of Steelheart and Steelwill. Stronghold is the strongest bird, with its claws and firm grip it can lift many times its own weight. Rayzor transforms himself into a tomahawk to fight , turning blue in the process and spinning around its own axis like a hurricane, whereby he is able to destroy everything in his way. Both Hawks are empathically and electronically connected to their respective twin companions so that they can communicate with each other.
  • Like Copper Kidd, Mayday has a copper-colored exterior. He also has several sensors , with which he can monitor almost the entire Limbo Galaxy, as well as detect obstacles and opponents.
