Silvio Schneider
Silvio Schneider (* 1969 ) is a German guitarist.
life and career
Silvio Schneider studied guitar and composition at the Dresden Music Academy from 1986 to 1991 . After that he mainly dealt with Latin American music. From 1996 to 1998 he studied composition with Rainer Lischka . Solo concerts and various projects such as LuaMar (CD Azul with the Pelegrina label ), Água de Coco (CD Madalena with the Phonector label ), KaraSol , Hoelder! or over many years with Nassler & Schneider led him through western and southern Europe to Russia, Turkey and Lebanon, the USA, Mexico, Canada, West Africa and Japan.
Silvio Schneider has released several CDs and has worked as a guest with Nippy Noya (percussion) and Dominic Miller (guitarist for Sting). In June 2013 he appeared solo at the Elbhangfest , several times with Bergitta Victor (singer from the Seychelles) at the Jazz Days Dresden .
Furthermore, he dedicates himself to the topic of "Latin Guitar" in workshops. So he organizes u. a. an annual “winter workshop by the sea”, works for the Mediterranean Music School in southern France and Italy and publishes his own sheet music with Acoustic Music Books . He is the editor of a monthly distance learning guitar course. Since 2015 he has regularly organized workshops in his “Mallorca Guitar Camp”.
Prizes and awards
- With the duo Nassler & Schneider he was the winner of the “1. Dresdner Kleinkunstfestival 1998 "and at the" German Folk Promotion Prize 1999 "
- In the duo LuaMar together with the singer Katharina Ahlrichs he won the 2009 World Music Prize "Creole Mitteldeutschland"
- In 2018 he won the “German Rock and Pop Prize” in the “Best Guitarist” category.
