Simó Gómez

Simó Gómez Polo (born November 11, 1845 in Barcelona ; † June 11, 1880 there ) was a Spanish ( Catalan ) engraver and painter.

Life

Gómez attended the art school La Llotja in his hometown , where he was a student of Josep Serra and Ramón Martí Alsina (painting) and Eusebi Planas (lithography).

In 1862 he went to Paris with his brother Enric Gómez . There they enrolled at the École des Beaux-Arts (EBA) and were taught by Alexandre Cabanel and Robert Fleury , among others . Before her final return to Barcelona in 1869, Gómez spent a few weeks - also with his brother - in Madrid to study the old masters at the Museo del Prado .

In 1873 Gómez married Rosa Font in Barcelona and had a son, Enric Gómez Font, with her.
