SimCity 64 is an economic simulation published exclusively for the Nintendo 64DD , an expansion for the Nintendo 64.

Game principle and technology

The aim of the game is to successfully build and develop a city as mayor, as in all other parts of the series. SimCity 64 is a 3D version of SimCity 2000 (it is thus the first part that runs almost completely in 3D graphics ), but can also be understood as the successor to the first part for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (released in 1991 or 1992) . Among other things, the consultant, Dr. Wright , exists and comes up with more or less useful tips or hints.

It is possible to import a character created in Mario Artist: Paint Studio . It is also possible to explore the city from a first person perspective and to talk to residents. This is also possible with a helicopter, similar to SimCopter .

Production notes

SimCity 64 was developed by HAL Laboratory and distributed by Nintendo . Shigeru Miyamoto was involved as a producer. The game was originally planned as one of four 64DD launch titles. The game was playable for the first time at Nintendo Space World in 1999. After all, it was only released in Japan on February 28, 2000. There is an unofficial translation into English .

reception

Famitsu gave the game a score of 31/40 points, IGN 6/10 points.
