Simeon ben Eleazar

Rabbi Simeon ben Eleazar (ben Schammua, i.e.: after Frankel and Wilhelm Bacher son of R. Eleasar ben Schammua; * after 140 ) was Tannait of the 4th generation, a pupil of Meir , often in controversy with his friend R. Jehuda ha-Nasi , also held polemical discussions with Samaritans and tried to prove to them that the resurrection was taught in the scriptures (Sifre to Num. 15; cf. Midrash ).

Simeon ben Eleazar is mentioned only seven times in the Mishnah , but frequently in the Baraita .
