Simeonowgrad , or Simeonovgrad ( Bulgarian Симеоновград ) is a Bulgarian city in the Thracian Plain in southern Bulgaria on both banks of the Maritsa River.
The old Bulgarian Greznwall Erkesija begins north of the city .
