Kathrin Oxen

Kathrin Oxen (born April 13, 1972 in Neustadt in Holstein ) is a Protestant theologian. She has been the moderator of the Reformed Federation in Germany since September 21, 2019 .

biography

After studying Protestant theology in Wuppertal and Berlin and pastoral training in Schwanewede and Lüneburg , from 2004 she was pastor of the Evangelical Reformed Church in Mecklenburg-Bützow , a small community of scattered Reformed people belonging to the Evangelical Reformed Church (seat of the regional church office in Leer (Ostfriesland) ). Since 2009 she has also been an employee of the Evangelical Academy Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Rostock) with a focus on church and right-wing extremism. In February 2012 she took over the management of the Center for Protestant Preaching Culture in Wittenberg , an institution supported by the Evangelical Church in Germany .

Oxen is co-editor and author of sermons and sermons for the sermon studies and reading sermons and author of the Göttingen sermon meditations . She has also published numerous articles and articles on homiletic issues.

In the years 2008 to 2010 Kathrin Oxen completed the “Master Class Sermon” at Atelier Sprache eV, Braunschweig ( Heinz Kattner , Martin Nicol and Alexander Deeg ). Since then she has been known nationwide as a preacher; she preaches according to the approach of the dramaturgical homiletics , as a first collection of sermons shows.

From 2009 to 2011, the SPD member Kathrin Oxen was a member of the city council of Bützow and its deputy chairwoman.

On December 1, 2018, Oxen took over a pastor's position at the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in Berlin .

The mother of four is married to the theologian Karl Friedrich Ulrichs .

Awards

In 2008 she was the winner of the international sermon competition for the Calvin Year, in 2009 she was awarded the publisher's sermon award for the German economy in the category Best Sermon 2009 . In the same year she was awarded the Johannes Stelling Prize of the SPD parliamentary group for her civic engagement.
