The Reformed Federation in Germany e. V. is a federation of Reformed churches , parishes , associations and individuals. It was founded in 1884 and is the umbrella organization for around two million Reformed church members in Germany . It has been based in Hanover since 2005 .

As a federation, the federal government is not a regional church and is therefore not a member of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD), but has guest status in the church conference there. In 2013 a new corporation under public law with the name “Reformed Federation in the EKD” was founded. In this new church union the Reformierte Bund e. V. Member, the management positions are occupied by the same person. The aim of this step was to better integrate into the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) and to come on a par with the Lutheran alliance ( VELKD ) and the United Churches ( UEK ).

This means that a total of around 400 reformed communities and around 730 individuals belong to the federal government. Furthermore, various United regional churches are represented in the Reformed Federation, because in their area they have not only Lutheran and United States but also Reformed congregations. Federal government

The Reformed Federation is chaired by the general assembly that takes place every two years. In the meantime, the moderamen , the executive committee of the general assembly , heads the federal government, the chairman of which is the moderator . The moderamen has 24 members, twelve of whom are elected by the general assembly, nine are sent by the participating churches and three are appointed by the moderamen himself. Pastor Kathrin Oxen has been the moderator since 2019 .

At the seat of the Reformed Federation, for a long time in Wuppertal and since 2006 in Hanover, is the office with a managing director who bears the title of Secretary General. Pastor Achim Detmers currently holds this office.

The Reformed Federation is a member of the globalization-critical network Attac . It also maintains its own working groups, for example the North Convention , in which theological and socio-political issues for the parish work of the member parishes are dealt with. In 2009 the Reformed Federation was responsible for the so-called Calvin year ; The 500th birthday of the reformer Johannes Calvin was celebrated .
