Achim Detmers

Achim Detmers (born August 19, 1965 in Leer (Ostfriesland) ) is a German Protestant Reformed theologian and pastor . He has been Secretary General of the Reformed Federation since 2014 .

Life

After graduating from high school in Papenburg, Detmers studied Protestant theology in Bethel , Hamburg , Bonn , Bochum and Wuppertal from 1986 . He finished his studies in 1994 with the First Theological Exam. He received his doctorate from the University of Giessen on the subject of "Reformation and Judaism: Israel - Teachings and attitudes to Judaism from Luther to early Calvin". After a two-year vicariate , he successfully passed the second theological exam in 2001 and was ordained on December 1, 2002 in the Anhalt Church .

From 2002 to 2008 he was pastor of the Protestant parishes of Amesdorf - Warmsdorf , Güsten - Osmarsleben , Ilberstedt and Rathmannsdorf . He then was the representative of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) and the Reformed Federation for the Calvin Year 2009 in Hanover. After the Calvin year in 2010, he became the director of studies for distance learning in the Evangelical Church in Central Germany (EKM) . From 2012 he became rector of the EKM's distance learning church. He has been General Secretary of the Reformed Federation since 2014.
