Ilberstedt is a municipality in the Salzlandkreis in Saxony-Anhalt . It belongs to the Saale-Wipper community , which has its administrative headquarters in the town of Güsten .

The honorary mayor Lothar Jänsch was first elected in the runoff election on July 6, 2008. He took over the office in October 2008. In April 2015 he was confirmed in office with 83.5% of the votes.

Ilberstedt has a train station on the (Dessau–) Köthen-Aschersleben railway line and has hourly regular connections.

The community has an exit on the federal highway 36 . The federal highway 185 from Bernburg (Saale) to Köthen (Anhalt) also runs through it . The federal motorway 14 , which leads from Halle (Saale) to Magdeburg , is in the east of Ilberstedt.

Culture and sights

Ilberstedt has a home office. The so-called six stones , remains of medieval stone crosses, are located directly on the main road . On the southern edge of the village, on the banks of the Wipper, stands the Evangelical Sankt Severin Church , built at the end of the 19th century .

Ilberstedt Castle is also located here , built according to the building inscription on the courtyard side between 1799 and 1801 by Johann Karl Andreas Freiherr von Braunbehrens. The two-storey, broad-layered late baroque building is a monument of particular artistic and urban significance.
