Ilberstedt Castle

The Ilberstedt Castle is a late Baroque building in the town Ilberstedt in Saxony-Anhalt .

history

According to the inscription plaque on the courtyard side, it was built between 1799 and 1801 under Johann Karl Andreas Freiherr von Braunbehrens (1768-1818). The castle in Ilberstedt was "formerly an important political and administrative center" and "today the complex [is] of great cultural value". It is a listed building.

architecture

The two-storey building is divided into a three-axis central projection with a triangular gable and two five-axis side wings. The hipped mansard roof is covered with slate and only has dormers on one side . In 2012 the castle was in poor structural condition. The floor plan is approx. 35 m × 12 m, the property itself is 10,230 m² and borders the Wipper , a small tributary of the Saale . The building extends over 5 levels: basement, ground floor, first floor and two further attic floors. The inner area is a total of over 1000 m².

Similar castles in the district of Bernburg are the castles in Piesdorf (1776), Biendorf (1759), Wohlsdorf (1818) and Roschwitz (1800).
