Borne is a municipality in the Egelner Mulde association in the Salzlandkreis in Saxony-Anhalt in Germany .
The place is 12 kilometers north of Staßfurt not far from the B 71 .
history
Borne was mentioned for the first time in 946 . The place name had different spellings over the years: Brunone (959), Brunon (973), Burne (1197) and since 1211 the current spelling Borne was the generally accepted name. All variations mean "At the fountain" - it means a natural spring (the "Spring") that still exists today.
Borne includes the Nalpke desert, not far from the village, and the neighboring village of Bisdorf, which was incorporated in the 1930s.

Sights in Borne are: The protected manor park (created around 1900), a megalithic grave , the church tower ruin Nalpke and the source of the "Spring". The legend still holds today that a giant is buried at the megalithic tomb, a burial site has already been found there.
