politics

coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved by the district on June 3, 2010.

Blazon : “In silver on green ground a black grooved red castle with two pointed towers covered with golden knobs, each with a silver window opening, in the tinned castle wall an open golden gate with raised black portcullis; between the towers five (3: 2) six-pointed green stars; the bottom is covered with a transverse golden spike over silver water with black wavy lines, separated from the bottom like a wave shield. "

The coat of arms was designed by the Magdeburg municipal heraldist Jörg Mantzsch and included in the approval process. Its symbols can be explained as follows: The castle refers to the Egeln castle from the coat of arms of the city of the same name; in heraldry it generally has the meaning of protection and defensibility. At the same time, the stylized castle with the raised portcullis and the open gate leaves welcome and let in. This symbol can be transferred to the Verbandsgemeinde: protection and mutual help, openness and hospitality, trade and change - all symbolically under the five stars that refer to the five communal bodies that make up the Verbandsgemeinde. They are represented equally so as not to favor any municipality. The green soil, which is covered with a golden ear of wheat, expresses the agriculture in the Magdeburger Börde area, which has been practiced here for centuries thanks to the high land value figures. The silver wave shield base ultimately refers to the proximity to the Bode and other bodies of water.

The colors of the community are: green and white.

flag

The flag is green - white - green (1: 4: 1) striped (horizontal shape: stripes running horizontally, lengthways shape: stripes running vertically) and centered with the municipal coat of arms.

traffic

The federal highways 81 and 180 run through the municipality .
