Osmarsleben is a district of the town of Güsten in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

The place east of Güsten an der Wipper has about 500 inhabitants. The Wipper-Saale cycle path leads through the village .

To the south of the village is a gravel pit that offers rare birds a new home. This also includes bee-eater and sand martin .

history

In the spring of 1830 a flood caused major damage to the village. The number of inhabitants used to be significantly higher than it is today. In 1910 Osmarsleben had 776 inhabitants, then 846 in 1933 and 820 in 1939. On July 1, 1950, it was incorporated into Güsten. In 2008, the 800th anniversary of Osmar life was celebrated.

Striking buildings in the village are the St-Johannis-Kirche , which has been closed since 2006 due to structural damage, and the Kraaz manor . Personalities

Julius Kraaz (1822–1889), lawyer, sugar manufacturer and member of the German Reichstag as well as DBD politician and member of the People's Chamber Herbert Born (* 1916) were born in Osmarsleben .
