Magdalene L. Frettlöh

Magdalene L. Frettlöh (born November 11, 1959 in Beddelhausen , today: Bad Berleburg / Siegen-Wittgenstein district) is a German Protestant theologian.

After studying Protestant theology at the Theological Seminary Bethel and the Universities of Heidelberg and Bern and worked as a curate in Bielefeld and as an assistant at the Universities of Bern and Bochum Frettlöh 1997 in Bochum Dr. theol. PhD. Her dissertation “Theology of Blessing” was awarded the Wilhelm Hollenberg Prize . The work has "meanwhile achieved the status of a standard work", judged Johannes Schnocks five years after the first edition was published. In 2004 she qualified as a professor in Bochum with the text “Gott Give Weight” for systematic theology . In 2007, her habilitation thesis was awarded the scientific advancement award of the Marga Bührig Foundation in Basel. In 2006 she became the rector of distance learning in the Evangelical Church in Central Germany . Since the winter semester 2011 she has been Professor of Systematic Theology at the Theological Faculty of the University of Bern.

Her research focuses in particular on the doctrine of election , the doctrine of God , Christology and eschatology , the theology of Karl Barth as well as the Judeo-Christian dialogue and the theological gender discourse in the context of the ban on images .
