The initiative Kirche im Aufbruch der Evangelische Kirche in Deutschland (EKD) describes the reform process of the Evangelical Church in Germany that was launched in 2006. The reform process project office is located in the EKD church office in Hanover-Herrenhausen .

history

In 2006 the impulse paper Church of Freedom was published . With this paper, the EKD Council initiated a reform process in the Evangelical Church in Germany. This impulse was taken up at the Synod in 2006 and at a future congress in January 2007 in Wittenberg and then continued and discussed in various committees. In the spring of 2008 a steering group with representatives from the council, synod and church conference of the EKD was set up to coordinate the process. From 24 to 26 September 2009 took place in Kassel , the future workshop Kassel the Evangelical Church in Germany with about 1,200 invited representatives from the member churches and works instead. In a gallery of good praxis 100 institutions, parishes and church districts named by the regional churches presented their projects. In 2014 the Future Forum 2014 took place in the Ruhr area and in Wuppertal, at which the church's "middle level" met for the first time nationwide, which is used to describe the provosts and superintendents.

The first steering group completed its work in October 2009. A second steering group started its work in March 2010.

Numerous publications have appeared as part of the reform process.

Reform centers

The Evangelical Church in Germany set up reform centers in 2009, which deal with various priorities in order to promote and accompany the reform process.

Center Mission in the Region

The Mission Center in the Region has three locations in Stuttgart , Dortmund and Greifswald . The center's task is to sustainably promote the culture and quality of the missionary work of the Evangelical Church in Germany. The center promotes networking and the exchange of experiences between the sponsors of regional projects and advises regions on the evaluation of mission formats.

Center for quality development in worship

The center for quality development aims to strengthen and promote the charisma of the evangelical church service. It deals with questions about how the service can be changed or edited in order to maintain or improve the quality. It advises the church governing bodies on questions of quality development and makes its results available so that changes can be implemented and decided. The center is located in the Evangelical Center for Worship and Church Music at the St. Michael Church in Hildesheim .

Center for Protestant Preaching Culture

The Center for Evangelical Preaching Culture has the task of promoting the passion for preaching. It offers various workshop formats, coaching and the like for this. It is intended to help network people who deal with the subject of preaching in different ways. The center is based in Wittenberg.

Center for leadership and leadership

The Leadership Academy for Church and Diakonia has existed since 2006. In the legal form of a non-profit stock corporation, it is supported by the Federal Academy for Church and Diakonie gGmbH (including Diakonie Deutschland and EKD) as well as more than 20 diaconal companies and the EKD.

Topics / projects

Projects, conferences and seminars are offered on the various topics of the reform process, such as missionary awakening, education, leadership and leadership, church in the area (in rural regions), the practical platform witty. The individual regional churches develop their own projects on various topics. In addition, the Martin Luther Medal was launched.
