The Simmons Lake is a 2.5 km long lake in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It is located in the eastern part of the Simmons Basin .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1992, together with the basin, after the American biologist George M. Simmons Jr. of the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University , who from 1977 onwards for over ten years teams of the United States Antarctic Research Program in studies Bonneysee , Fryxellsee , Hoaresee , Vandasee and other lakes in the Antarctic dry valleys .
