Simon's Cat is a series of animated web videos , books and daily strips by British animator and illustrator Simon Tofield that tell episodes from the life of a domestic cat. They are published for the first time on the channel of the same name on YouTube . In Germany, the books are sold under the title Simon's cat .

Emergence

Simon Tofield says he is inspired by his cats. In an interview with Your Cat magazine, he stated that he owned three cats named Hugh, Jess and Maisie, of which Hugh would normally serve as a model for Simon's Cat. Later a fourth cat named Teddy was added.

Publications

So far, videos with the following titles have been released:

There are also two other films that are out of line in terms of content:

  • RSPCA - Simon's Sister's Dog 'Fed Up'
  • Simon's Cat: Beyond the Fence - UK

Simon's Cat does not appear in the film RSPCA - Simon's Sister's Dog 'Fed Up' . Instead, the focus is on a dog. The background is that the film was made for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) . However, this dog also appears in the later book Simon's Cat - Beyond the Fence .

The film Beyond the Fence - UK is produced for television commercial for the second book Simon's Cat - beyond the fence in the style of other films about Simon's Cat .

The animations were drawn in Adobe Flash , since 2014 with TVPaint . All films were uploaded to the YouTube video platform on the Simon's Cat channel , which had around 5.3 million subscribers and over 1.1 billion views in July 2020.
